tutto x The Dunlin: The Story Behind the Saltwater Emerald

The sweater that started with a river, a designer, and a very specific shade of green.

Some collaborations make immediate sense. The moment we first visited The Dunlin — the Auberge Resorts Collection property tucked along the banks of the Kiawah River on Johns Island, just twenty miles south of Charleston — we understood why this one was inevitable.

The Dunlin is the kind of place that makes you want to slow down. Designed by the acclaimed Amanda Lindroth, whose interiors are synonymous with a certain unhurried coastal elegance, the property wraps you in the same feeling as a great sweater: considered, comfortable, and completely itself. Whitewashed rooms, honey oak floors, mint green accents, and the quiet rhythm of the marshlands outside your window. It is, in the truest sense, a place that has its own aesthetic.

When Amanda Lindroth's design came to life at The Dunlin, it told a story in color — the deep, living green of the saltwater marshes, the luminous seafoam of the river at midday, the particular way the South Carolina coast looks in that hour before sunset. We wanted to tell that same story in cotton.

The Sweater

The Saltwater Emerald is tutto's take on a coastal collaboration done right. Rather than slapping a logo on an existing style, we started with the landscape. The two greens in the stripe — a saturated saltwater emerald and a softer, sun-washed seafoam — come directly from the palette Amanda Lindroth brought to The Dunlin. They are the colors you see from the porch at golden hour. They are, unmistakably, Johns Island.

The construction is tutto's signature: 100% cotton in our classic breton stripe, slightly cropped, with the same softness and structure our customers have come to expect. A sweater made for wherever the day takes you — from a morning coffee on the riverfront porches to dinner overlooking the marshlands, or back home in Charleston with the windows open.

On Collaboration

The best collaborations happen when two brands share not just aesthetics but values. The Dunlin, as part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, is committed to the kind of hospitality that feels personal — deeply rooted in its specific place, unhurried, and beautifully made. That philosophy maps exactly onto how tutto approaches knitwear.

We don't make sweaters that look like everywhere. We make sweaters that look like here — the Charleston coast, the low country light, the particular ease of a life lived near water.

The Dunlin x tutto Saltwater Emerald Stripe Sweater is available exclusively at tuttoknit.com. Like all tutto sweaters, it's made from 100% cotton and designed to be the sweater you reach for first, whether you're on Johns Island or anywhere the good life takes you.
